Today's professional digital cameras are capable of taking very good pictures. However, even the best professional cameras don't produce images ready for display or printing without some extra work. When you compare images straight out of the camera to those that have been through digital post-processing, the difference is clear.
Below you can see two versions of the same photograph. The top photo came straight out of a professional Nikon camera. The bottom photo is the same image after digitally post-processing to saturate color and improve contrast. See the difference?
